The idea here, is that you buy a bunch of tokens, which you then gradually use up as you watch the performances.
With our system, you prepay. You take $10, or $25, or $50 worth of time. When that expires, we won't bill for any more. You have to actually make the decision to spend more. You control your spending. When the time you bought is expired, you need to break off your session and sign up for more time (or go rent a video). So, you can decide that this evening, you'll spend $20 on the DtV Broadcasting System, and you're guaranteed that this is all it costs. Unless you change your mind, of course, and decide to buy more tokens.
You can pay by credit card, of course, and get immediate access. Or you can pay cash, check or money order, but then you have to wait until the payment arrives before you'll get access.
Here's how to prepay for access
Once you've made a prepayment, you have a username and a password, so you can go and check at the Token Counter, how much prepayment (how many tokens, worth one cent each) you have on record. This will be updated each minute as you use up that prepayment, so you can check it any time, and top it up by going back to the Token Counter. Your card will only be billed if you do that. We don't bill your card unless you deliberately buy tokens.
Your prepayment will only be used, while you're in one of the live shows. The rate at which the prepayment is used up, is 25c/minute if you're in a live show and you're logged in to the chatroom, 10c/minute if you're in a live show but you're view-and-read-only. Archived shows are charged according to how long they are; you pay once, and get a month's viewing.
You can also use your tokens for tipping. To do that, click on one of the tipping links (and then you have to confirm, to make sure you didn't click it by accident) or you can you type /tip 5 if you want to tip the performer $5 (500 tokens). Tipping is entirely voluntarily; it's up to you to decide if you want to tip, how often you tip, and how much.
Unused tokens are not refundable. If you buy them, you have to use them. You could always use them to tip your favourite performer.
All this revenue is divided between the performers and the people who are paying the bills for all this.
The prepayment usage will start from the time you start watching the show, and you'll be using your prepayment until you log out. But what if your computer crashes, and you can't get back online to log out? We thought of that. While you're in the session, your computer is downloading from our server, all the time. If your computer stops downloading, and doesn't download anything for one minute, then we'll assume that you need to be logged off. So, worst case, you'll lose 25c.
Of course, if you're away from your computer, or just not watching the screen, there's no way we can detect that, so the prepayment usage continues. If you, for example, fall asleep in front of your computer while watching a show, then we'll continue to use your prepayment until it's all gone. But the limit will be that prepayment - if you prepaid $20, and fall asleep, then you can only lose that $20. Of course, you can avoid this; if you need to take a break from the session, just log off from the session first, then log back on when you get back.
We've also put a limit on overall spending. You can't buy more than $50 worth of tokens per day. This is to discourage people from spending more than they can afford. $50 worth of tokens will get you more than three hours of active chatting. If you really do want to spend more than $50 in one day, contact us, and we'll arrange something.
Now is a good time to get signed up
